Offering incredible views, lovely wildflowers and forestry on all sides - Viewpoint Mike is a great place to practice your hiking skills.
The trail offers a spectacular overhead view of Lost Creek Lake in the Rogue River, meandering along manzanita trees and wildflowers in the spring. The hike has some significant elevation gain but is well marked with a view worth the ascent. After you park, cross the road and begin your hike. There are some significant switchbacks early-on, so be prepared and don't get discouraged. Trekking poles are always helpful, as the trail can begin to get narrow.
After about one mile, the trail will follow a dirt road for about 200 yards (follow the signage) before you get back on the trail for another 1.5 miles to the top (look to your right). At the top, there are benches and a lookout of Lost Creek Lake. The area is spacious and a great place to have lunch and enjoy the view.
A lovely way to see the rushing Rogue River - Viewpoint Mike is a rewarding hike for the solo or family hiker!
