Located along the mighty Rogue River, TouVelle State Park is an amazing place to spend a day with the family for fishing, picnics, get-togethers, relaxing, or hiking.
This is a great hike for the beginning hiker, anyone with kids, or anyone just looking for a casual hike in some of Southern Oregon's most beautiful landscapes. The trails feature footbridges, incredible views throughout the fall and an abundance of biodiversity. Black oak, white oak, willow and alder line the trail, with several small beaches along the side, perfect for fishing or a picnic. Keep your eyes open for deer, woodpeckers, great blue herons, and in the spirit of fall, turkeys.
As you continue hiking along the trail, on your right you’ll notice a clearing with yellow star thistle and Himalayan blackberries, with scenic views of Mount McLoughlin on a clear day. As the trail continues to follow the Rogue River, you’ll notice on the left an amazing view of Upper Table Rock. From here the Rogue River departs, and the trail follows Little Butte Creek. Shortly after this amazing view, you’ll cross the end of Touvelle Road, where you will cross straight ahead to continue your journey.
The trail hugs inward, with beautiful foliage on all sides. As you reach the end, there is a nice grassy patch, perfect for a picnic or bird watching. Come back the way you came, and enjoy the peaceful views the lovely park has to offer.
