Park History and Plans: Mr. Skyrman, who died in September 2010, donated the property to the City of Central Point with the stipulation that it be used as an arboretum to provide for educational programs for youth from around the region and for public enjoyment. The site is unique in that Mr. Skyrman’s father planted a variety of shrubs and every tree species native to Oregon, including the largest gray pine tree in the state. The property also includes two structures, a log cabin the family built to celebrate the bicentennial in 1976 and the Skyrman home. These buildings will be used to house classroom space for various educational programs.

Stewart Meadows is the Jewel of West Medford. It's a very walkable nine hole course, distinguished by a beautiful and challenging layout, including four large ponds, 39 sand traps, over 800 trees and a creek which bisects the 62 acre area. This course has strong appeal to juniors, seniors and all golfers of modest ability.

From April to June, the Table Rocks are used as an outdoor classroom. Over 3,500 individuals participate in the Table Rocks Environmental Education Program. Students and community groups of 10 or more are led by BLM hike leaders who share their knowledge of the natural and cultural history as they ascend the Table Rock trails. Weekend guided hikes open to the public are provided by local volunteer specialists willing to share their knowledge while hiking the trails. Reservations for weekend hikes can be made starting in March through the Bureau of Land Management.

Takelma Park, located on 40 acres, including .38 miles of river frontage, is a popular spot among anglers during fishing season and rafters floating the river. The beautiful Rogue River flows along this county park, which features a boat ramp, CXT vault toilet, and a paved parking area with night lights. Located just north of Dodge Bridge Park, Takelma Park offers a convenient local getaway destination. Takelma Park is a perfect location for fishing, boating, rafting, or just relaxing the day away in a peaceful riverfront setting, away from the city.

Two small and beautiful glacial cirque lakes sitting on the Oregon-California border. Reaching the trailhead involves an adventurous drive through some of the prettiest country in the Oregon Siskiyou high country.

This is a beautiful day-use park located on the bank of the Rogue River and at the foot of the geologically prominent Table Rocks. You can fish, swim, hike, watch wildlife and experience nature at its finest. An ideal spot for family gatherings or group picnics, the site has a large picnic shelter with cooking utilities. There's a smaller picnic kitchen and three sites with water and electricity. Denman Wildlife Refuge is next to this park and teems with local and migratory wildlife -- a bird viewing paradise.

In 1846, a wagon train led by Jesse Applegate traversed southern Oregon along what became known as the Applegate Trail. Tub Springs Wayside is one of the stopping points before you head down the mountain pass into Ashland. Take a moment to stop here amid the towering fir and sense what it was like 150 years ago. Breathe in the fresh mountain air. There's an interpretive panel at the wayside describing the difficulties faced by these pioneers. The name Tub Springs is derived from the tubs that were installed in the 1930s to provide spring water for travelers. The tubs have been renovated and are still functional today. The same springs that provided early settlers with plentiful fresh water still flow.

This short, lovely hike through the brushy foothills of the little Applegate is ideal for a sunny afternoon in summer, or winter, with a picnic basket and all the kids you can round up. Wildflowers abound in spring. The described route, the Tunnel Ridge Trail, is a connecting link to the Sterling Mine Trail, a 26-mile path under development along an old mining ditch. From the 1870s to the 1930s, the ditch channeled water to the gold mines on Sterling Creek. The highlight of the 26-mile engineering feat is the 100-foot tunnel through Tunnel Ridge. Highlight: An unusual, low-elevation, year-round hike following a historic mining ditch. Magnificent spring wildflowers.

The City of Central Point and School District 6 have partnered to provide this community sports park, known as Civic Field. Located in the northwestern part of the City, Civic Field includes over 7 acres of multi-use fields, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts and walking paths.
