Back to Know Your Role

The Southern Oregon Sports Commission is pleased to partner with KOBI-NBC Channel 5 to present our Know Your Role Scholarship again this spring.  The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a local senior who meets the following criteria:

Qualifications:

1.   Must be a senior.

2.  Must display great sportsmanship during games and practices.

3.  Shows a strong work ethic and practices as hard as they play.

4.  Dedicated in the classroom, as well as their particular sport or activity.

5.  Considered a leader/role model for the team and other students.

This award is intended to go to a student-athlete who best exemplifies great sportsmanship as a whole. It could be a 4-year varsity starter, or it could be the player who worked hard to make varsity as a senior, yet only plays once in a while. The goal of this award is to recognize a student-athlete with the best sportsmanship in high school athletics.

How winners are determined:

• Nominations will be open from April 10th to May 15th, 2025
• Nominations will be made by school athletic directors, coaches, club staff, or board of directors 
• Nominations can only be made via this form
• The nominee applications will be reviewed by members of the Southern Oregon Sports Commission and a winner will be chosen  
• The winner will be presented a certificate for the scholarship amount and invited to take part in local media promotion of the award
• The recipient of the scholarship must submit their acceptance letter to the institution of higher learning (trade school, community college, or university) they will be attending to the Southern Oregon Sports Commission, and then a check will be submitted from the fund to the institution in the student’s name
