READY TO PLAN YOUR SUMMER ESCAPE?

Nestled in the heart of Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley, Medford is a hidden gem bursting with adventure, flavor, and charm. Whether you're chasing adrenaline, relaxing with a glass of wine, or immersing yourself in nature, summer in Medford offers something for every type of traveler. Here are the top 5 things you absolutely must do during a summer visit to Medford, Oregon.

RIDE THE ROGUE: JET BOAT ADVENTURES

Rogue Jet Boat Adventures takes you on a thrilling journey through the Table Rock area, offering both high-speed fun and rich storytelling.

You’ll zip past ancient lava flows, under rugged cliffs, and alongside wildlife like herons, osprey, and maybe even river otters.

It's the perfect blend of excitement and scenery—ideal for families, couples, or groups looking for something memorable and uniquely Oregonian.

TAKE A DAY TRIP TO CRATER LAKE

Just 90 minutes from Medford lies Crater Lake National Park, a spectacular natural wonder and one of Oregon’s most iconic destinations.

Formed over 7,000 years ago in the remains of a collapsed volcano, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the U.S. and renowned for its vivid blue water and dramatic cliffs.

Take the Rim Drive, a scenic 33-mile loop with more than 30 overlooks, perfect for photography and sightseeing. Hikers can explore Watchman Peak, Garfield Peak, or the short but rewarding Discovery Point Trail for breathtaking views from above.

A vineyards in Southern Oregon

Summer in Medford is synonymous with wine country vibes. The rolling hills and sun-drenched vineyards of the Rogue Valley produce some of the best wines in the Pacific Northwest, and the tasting experiences here are second to none.

Start at DANCIN Vineyards, where elegant Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays pair beautifully with gourmet pizza and panoramic views. Then head to Del Rio Vineyards, set in a historic stagecoach inn surrounded by lavender and vines. Round out your tasting tour at RoxyAnn Winery, a rustic barn venue with bold reds and a laid-back feel.

With over 80 wineries nearby, you could spend an entire weekend sipping your way through the valley.

Looking for a one stop place to taste Rogue Valley wines? Attend Savor Southern Oregon, the Rogue Valley's premier wine event, June 13th and 14th, 2025.

HIKE THE TABLE ROCKS FOR EPIC VIEWS

If you're craving a little elevation and a big reward, look no further than the Upper and Lower Table Rock trails. These ancient volcanic plateaus rise above the Rogue Valley and offer some of the most breathtaking views in the region.

The trails are moderate (2.5 to 3 miles round trip), making them great for families and casual hikers. In summer, wildflowers bloom along the paths, and the sunsets from the top are postcard-worthy.

Don’t forget your camera—this is classic Southern Oregon scenery at its finest.

TASTE THE VALLEY: HARRY & DAVID AND THE GROWERS MARKET

Medford’s agricultural roots run deep, and summer is the perfect time to sample its bounty. Begin with a visit to the Harry & David headquarters, where you can tour the facility, shop their gourmet store, and sample local favorites like Moose Munch and Royal Riviera pears.

Then swing by the Rogue Valley Growers Market, held on Thursdays in Hawthorne Park, to browse fresh produce, handmade goods, and local crafts. With live music and a community vibe, it’s a fun, flavorful way to spend a morning.
